Why 97% of Network Marketers Fail in MLM - And What 3% Do to Become Rich Online

It's true. 97% of the people who purchase MLM business opportunities end up quitting in the first three months. They buy into the system and its wealth potential. Perhaps they strongly believe in the message of the company, or the product. Yet nine times out of 10, they end up losing money and quitting. So why is it that 97% of people fail - and what do the 3%, the successful people, do to succeed?

The first thing that the majority of network marketers do wrong is buying and cold-calling leads. Purchased leads are problematic for several reasons. For one thing, many of these leads are completely wrong for your company. Also, they may not be, and probably will not be in the right mindset when they receive your call. You could spend hours upon hours on the phone, but you won't be able to convince people to join you if they are not in the right mindset in the first place.

Successful network marketers only call prospects who are already in the right mindset to buy. They pre-sell, and have people contact them before they ever pick up the phone. Many never pay for a lead, and they have a much higher conversion rate (people they call who end up joining their company) than someone who buys a list and cold-calls. They also get highly-quality people in their downline - people that make money for them.

The second mistake 97% of network marketers make is trying to sell their opportunity to their warm market - their friends and family. Friends and family are the hardest people to sell to when you are a new marketer, and they are likely to react even more harshly than your cold-called leads. They usually have no interest in starting a business, and will be put off by your attempts to get their money. Many will think you are trying to scam them into joining a pyramid scheme.

Experienced network marketers only market to people who want a business. If family members and friends happen to see their success and show some interest, they will not turn them away; however, they focus their attention on people who have already bought into the idea that having your own business is the key to living a healthy, wealthy lifestyle.

How do experienced marketers pull this off? They leverage the power of the internet to pre-sell their opportunity. They sell themselves before they sell the business. They give away an education before they ask for anything in return. They use systems that allow them to sit back and watch interested people rise to the top while those who aren't right for the business weed themselves out. And they make phone calls only to those people who are seriously interested, and have enough leadership potential to help grow their business.
